Dr. Akhila Bharathan is a highly skilled and compassionate Radiation Oncologist, currently serving as an Attending Consultant at Fortis Healthcare, Bangalore. With over four years of dedicated experience, she is known for delivering precise, patient-centered cancer care using the most advanced radiation techniques available today.

Dr. Akhila completed her MBBS from the Government T.D. Medical College, Alappuzha, Kerala, and went on to pursue her DNB in Radiation Oncology from Healthcare Global Enterprises Ltd., Bangalore. She has also cleared the prestigious FRCR (Part 1 & Part IIA) from the Royal College of Radiologists, UK, reflecting her strong academic foundation and international exposure in oncology practice.

Her clinical expertise spans a wide range of advanced radiotherapy techniques, including:

  • SRS (Stereotactic Radiosurgery)
  • SBRT (Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy)
  • VMAT, IMRT, and IGRT
  • Brachytherapy – Intracavitary (ICRT) and Interstitial

At Fortis Healthcare, BG Road, Bangalore, Dr. Akhila manages both outpatient and inpatient cancer cases with commitment and precision. She has extensive hands-on experience with world-class radiotherapy equipment such as Versa HD Linac (Elekta), TrueBeam, CyberKnife, and TomoTherapy, along with treatment planning systems like Monaco, Eclipse, and Oncentra. Her work also includes independent management of OPD and IPD patients, along with brachytherapy procedures across multiple cancer sites.

Prior to joining Fortis, she worked as a Senior Resident at Tata Memorial Hospital, Varanasi, where she gained valuable experience in the management of paediatric tumours, haematological malignancies, and complex solid tumours. Her approach combines deep clinical knowledge with empathy, ensuring every patient receives personalized care tailored to their needs.
